For those looking to experience something a little different, send + receive: a festival of sound kicks off on October 13. Now in its eleventh year, the internationally-respected media arts festival runs at various venues until October 17 and features performances, workshops, artist talks, and more.

This year's line-up continues send + receive's tradition of bringing some of the world's most acclaimed audio artists to Winnipeg, including: Ancipate Records' Ezekiel Honig, world renowned Spanish sound artist Francisco Lopez, Canadian percussionist Jeffrey Allport, USO Project + Selfish from Italy, Dutch electronic artist Machinefabriek, Winnipeg's own Ken Gregory, and many others. Live performances will take place at Urban Shaman Gallery and the University of Winnipeg’s Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall.

The festival is also set to launch its long-awaited 10th Anniversary audio + video DVD set, featuring select performances from the past decade years of send + receive’s history, extensive liner notes by festival founder Steve Bates, and a feature-length documentary about the festival by Winnipeg filmmaker/writer Caelum Vatnsdal.
