Non-profit organization helping bands cross border gets NY Times attention

As the eyes and ears of the music world focus on SXSW, thoughts of border-crossing tours are prominent on the minds of many artists.  Of course, the process of obtaining the right paperwork isn't always easy, and we've all heard the horror stories. There are, however, many organizations out there that can help make the process easier.

The New York Times recently featured one such organization, Tamizdat, which offers artists Visa Services for a reduced fee.  Its' executive director, Matthew Covey, discussed the issues which usually surround visa applications.

Other organizations provide similar services for various fees, including the AFM which offers the service to all union members who wish to travel across the border.
