POP! Et Cetera Festival Gets Ready For Second Explosion

Posted on

POP! Et Cetera is back in 2010 with more bands and more shows. The second annual music festival kicks off 10 nights of concerts at various Winnipeg venues on October 1. Coordinated by local DJ and promotor Mike B. of Better Swimmers, POP! boasts over a dozen nightly shows with performances by hometown favourites and out-of-towners.

Packed into this year's 10-night fest is some of the best in indie music, from pop to rock to electronica to hip hop, and a few genres in between. A total of 32 acts are hitting city stages, including locals Not Animals, Les Jupes, Royal Canoe, Lebeato, Twin, The Wilderness Campaign, The Liptonians, Cyclist, and Boats. Touring acts making their way to Winnipeg include Son of Dave, Rae Spoon, Holy Fuck, Japandroids, DVAS, and Jamie Lidell.

While all of last year's events happened at two venues, this year things have expanded to the Pyramid, The Lo Pub, West End Cultural Centre, Royal Albert, Cavern, The Rocker, and The Academy.

Even POP!'s second free digital sampler has doubled in size; this year's edition offers 13 tracks by festival acts. Download the sampler for free from POP!'s website. You can also get a sample of sampler, Not Animals' "All My Hearts," from The Loudspeaker until October 7.
