Bluebird North Flies Back to Winnipeg
Bluebird North is flying back into Winnipeg this month. Presented by the Songwriters Association of Canada, with the Manitoba Country Music Association and Manitoba Music, the latest edition hits The Park Theatre on February 2 and features performances by country singer/songwriters Murray Pulver (of Doc Walker), Ridley Bent, Mackenzie Porter, and Marc-Alan Barnette.
Hosted by Jenna Khan of Citytv Breakfast Television, the event also features the addition of a Young Artists Showcase. Five young musicians: Brenton Thorvaldson, Brennan Wall, Karl Shewchuk, Kim Erickson and Shannon Patterson will get the chance to play a short set before the main stage acts come on.
Bluebird North: Where Writers Sing and Tell is a musical showcase that brings together Canada’s most inspiring songwriters during an intimate and interactive evening. The audience will hear each performer share their songs and stories in an acoustic, informal environment. Bluebird North is based on Nashville's famed Bluebird Café, which opened in 1982. The venue is well-known for helping launch the careers of Garth Brooks, Ashley Cleveland and Pam Tillis.
In Winnipeg, Bluebird North is produced by Chris Burke-Gaffney for the S.A.C. This event also takes place in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa and St. John’s. Bluebird North is sanctioned by the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee.
