Winnipeg Folk Festival Announces 2012 Performers
The Winnipeg Folk Festival did its part to chase away the cold weather today with an announcement of its 2012 performers. The 39th anual event, which will take over Birds Hill Park July 4-8, wll feature nearly 100 acts over three days and five nights, including a diverse line-up of local talent.
The Manitoba party includes: JUNO Award-winning roots/soul quintet Chic Gamine; roots super trio Dry Bones, which features Leonard Podolak (The Duhks), Nathan Rogers, and JD Edwards; Manitoba/B.C. folk act Fish & Bird; Klezmer outfit Black Sea Station, which includes former Finjan players Daniel Koulack, Victor and Myron Schultz; Manitoba-bred, Nashville-based sibling duo Sarah & Christan Dugas; improv act Crumbs; children's performers Aaron Burnett and Jake Chénier Band.
You'll have to wait for the full schedule to be released before you can plan out what you're going to see, but there's sure to be plenty of chances to see local talent throughout the weekend, including the popular Manitoba artists workshop that has wowed thousands every year.
