Bell Media Taps James Struthers as Emerging Artist of the Month

Bell Media has named another Manitoba artists as its Emerging Artist of the month. James Struthers and his new tune “What Are We Waiting For” will be featured for the month of April on Bell Media and CHUM family stations across the country, which could earn the singer/songwriter some serious exposure. Pop songstress Jodi King had the honour in November, which helped propel her into the top 50 on the national radio charts.

The news comes at the perfect time for Struthers, who's about to head out on a 50-plus date cross-Canada tour. Struthers is no stranger to the road, having spent much of the last year on tour, including recent gigs around western Canada. He's also no stranger to the radio, hitting the top 10 on A/C charts for his winter single, a cover of Elvis classic, "Blue Christmas".

Struthers has also gained quite a bit of attention for the clever video for his self-penned song "You, Me and Optimus Prime", which co-stars the Transformer himself. The video has racked up close to 200,000 views so far and landed on hugely popular site, Gizmodo.

Manitoba audiences can catch Struthers live as he kicks off his tour at Lady of the Lake in Brandon on April 14. He'll be at the Park Theatre in Winnipeg on June 28.
