Manitoba acts landed honours at the popular Indian Summer Music Awards in Milkwaukee, Wisconsin over the weekend. Indian City and Don Amero each picked up awards for songs off their latest releases at a gala event on September 8, 2012.

Two songs from Supernation, the debut album from Eagle & Hawk front man Vince Fontaine's new project Indian City, earned honours. The album's title track picked up Best Pop Song while its single, "Stand", won for Best Rock Song. The band, which was up for five awards this year, performed at the festivities. Indian City has another chance to bring home the hardware at the 2012 Western Canadian Music Awards, for Aboriginal Recording of the Year; awards will be handed out September 30 in Regina.

Singer/songwriter Don Amero landed a Best Country Song win for his song "Right Where I Wanna Be" off his release, The Long Way Home. Amero is set to release a brand new CD, Heart on My Sleeve, next month. This year's ISMA country category was dominated by Manitoba artists, with two nods each for Ali Fontaine and David St. Germain.

The ISMAs are held annually in conjunction with the Indian Summer Festival, the largest Native American festival in North America, which draws close to 70,000 visitors to the Summerfest Grounds on the western shore of Lake Michigan each year.
