Manitoba Acts Land 12 Covenant Award Nominations

Manitoba artists have a dozen chances to pick up hardware at this year's Covenant Awards. The awards, which celebrate best in Canadian Christian music, will be handed out on November 7 during GMA (Gospel Music Association) Canada Week in Burlington, ON. 

Fresh I.E. has five nods, including one for a collaboration with former Manitoba singer/songwriter, Jon Buller. The Winnipeg rapper, who has a Grammy nomination and several awards under his belt, is up for Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year for City of Worship, Rap/Hip Hop Song of the Year for "God of This City", Urban/R&B/Soul Album of the Year for Beautiful Disaster, and Urban/R&B/Soul Song of the Year for "Fallen Together".

Rock outfit The Color landed four nominations, including New Artist of the Year, Hard Rock/Alternative Song of the Year for "Alive", Rock/Modern Song of the Year for "Made To Be", and CD/Artwork Design of the Year for the band's self-titled album.

Pop songstress Jodi King, who recently signed to Nashville-based label Word Entertainment (a Warner/Curb company) has two nominations, Seasonal Album of the Year for her album Listen to the Angels and Seasonal Song of the Year for "Christmastime".

Singer/songwriter Barbara Joy is also up for Seasonal Album of the Year for her sophomore effort, A King Has Come

Brandon-born adult contemporary artist Amanda Stott is up for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for her new release, Place to Start Again.

Former Manitoba act Starfield, which is about to head out on tour with Jodi King, is up for six awards, including Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Group of the Year.
