There’s a swarm of Manitoba artists headed towards Toronto next month for coveted showcase spots at North by Northeast (NXNE), which runs June 10-16, 2013. This year’s lineup includes a diverse Manitoba crop of 15 acts, including many NXNE first-timers, spanning genres from roots to R&B to indie rock.

Music fans and industry insiders can catch sets by some of Manitoba’s most buzzed about bands, including indie soul/rockers Imaginary Cities, who release their latest, Fall of Romance, on May 28 via Hidden Pony/Votiv; Pipe + Hat’s pop/rock duo Mise En Scene, fresh from its first European tour; cinematic rock trio This Hisses, which drew critical praise for its sophomore album on Transistor 66, Anhedonia; and upbeat rap crew The Lytics, whose latest effort, They Told Me, was released to critical praise on Camobear Records.

Manitoba Music is returning to Toronto for an eclectic showcase of critically-acclaimed new music from the prairie province. On June 14, Cameron House will play host to an exciting event featuring Aporia Records’ indie rock act Federal Lights; haunting folk trio Eagle Lake Owls; electronic rock band The Revival; roots darlings Sweet Alibi; jazz/pop maven Erin Propp; songstress Kayla Luky; and singer/songwriter Ingrid Gatin.

Also taking the stage: Western Canadian Music Award-winning R&B chanteuse Flo; garage rock outfit The Bokononists; pop noir artist Gt. Dane; up-and-coming punk duo Mobina Galore; and heavy music purveyor AstroCoven.
