Music fans have a new way to find out about live music in Manitoba.

Premier Greg Selinger officially launched Manitoba Music's new concert-finding app Manitoba Live on March 4 at the West End Cultural Centre at a news conference hosted by Ace Burpee of 103.1 Virgin Radio. Manitoba Live, powered by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, is a free iOS app that helps music fans find concerts in venues and clubs in Winnipeg and throughout the entire province. The app features the most up-to-date concert and festival listings in Manitoba, brought to you by the Manitoba Music team. Read Province of Manitoba's news release

With Manitoba Live, users can instantly find live music events by venue and by date, see which shows are happening nearby, discover new bands and venues, see artist lineups, get more info on hundreds of local artists, connect via Twitter and Facebook, share the hottest shows with friends, and add events to their calendar so they never miss a show.

Developed by Winnipeg digital media firm Visual Lizard, Manitoba Live is fuelled by Manitoba Music’s popular listings portal, the Live Music Calendar (LMC), which attracts thousands of visitors every month. Manitoba Music has spent a decade building the listings infrastructure and database, as well as a connection with venues and artists, to help music fans find the live music they want. Manitoba Live takes this a step further, putting the power in the pockets of music fans across the province.

Manitoba Live is part of the celebration of the Year of Music in Manitoba, which shines a spotlight the many exciting music events taking place in the province in 2014, including JUNO Week in March, Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards in September, and the BreakOut West music festival and Western Canadian Music Awards in October.

“Manitoba’s incredible live music scene has fantastic venues, talented artists, and passionate fans,” said Manitoba Music’s executive director, Sara Stasiuk. “We are thrilled to offer music fans a new way to connect and to find their music. We are very thankful to have dedicated development partners in Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, Visual Lizard, and Guppy Graphic Design, and to be working closely with the Year of Music team.”

Manitoba Live is available for free download now in Apple’s App Store, just in time for The 2014 JUNO Awards and the many fantastic JUNO Week events happening through Winnipeg. It will feature all the great concerts and club shows along with all the lineup info from Manitoba’s vibrant music festivals.

To celebrate the launch, Manitoba Music has teamed up with 103.1 Virgin Radio for a contest for live music fans, who can enter to win exciting prize packages every week in March, including concert tickets for some of the hottest local venues and much more. Fans can stay tuned to 103.1 Virgin Radio and follow #mblive in coming days for more!
