It is with mixed emotions that Manitoba Music announces that Sara Stasiuk will step down as executive director at the end of December to pursue other employment in the music industry.

“Sara has been fundamental to Manitoba Music’s success, strength, and growth throughout her 13 years with us,” says Manitoba Music’s president, Paul Jordan. “We would like to thank Sara for all she has accomplished for our association. We’re excited to see what she does next, and know that she will continue to champion our music community.”

Stasiuk began her career with Manitoba Music (then MARIA) in late 2001 as program manager, stepping into the role of executive director in 2008. During her tenure, she has also served on numerous boards and committees -- including the Winnipeg JUNO Committee, the Western Canadian Music Alliance, FACTOR National Advisory Board, the Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations, Polaris Music Prize, Unison Benevolent Fund, Canadian Folk Music Awards, Manitobans for the Arts, and the Minister’s Advisory Council on Workforce Development – which has helped to strengthen Manitoba’s music industry and take it to new heights.

Manitoba Music’s board of directors will formalize its succession process and plan in the coming days.
