Manitoba Music and ACI Manitoba have teamed up for the seventh edition of the Youth Mentorship Program in Music Management. Aimed at youth interested in careers in the music industry, the three-month program provides a dozen students from various southern Manitoba high schools with a chance to expand their knowledge of the industry and develop their own music business skills. Coordinated by Burnthe8track’s Derek Kun, students participate in a series of workshops facilitated by local industry professionals covering different aspects of the music business, from touring to releasing albums to marketing and publicity.
The workshops help to develop the students’ practical skills, put to the test with a multi-genre music sampler. Coordinated, marketed, and promoted by the students themselves, the digital project will feature tracks from young Manitoba indie artists. It will be distributed to music industry professionals, music journalists, and local music fans.
The project is now accepting submissions from young Manitoba bands and solo artists. This multi-genre compilation will feature new music by young Manitoba artists and will help promote young artists to music industry companies and local media.
Applicants must be under 25 years of age, or bands must include at least one member under 25.
