Manitoba artists have netted 14 nominations for the Indigenous Music Awards, which changed from the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards earlier this year. The nominees were announced at a press conference on June 23 at Portage Place. The hardware will be handed out at the 10th annual gala awards show at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg on September 11, 2015 and the invite-only Ohshkii Awards Night at the Winnipeg Art Gallery on September 10.

Vince Fontaine's pop/rock outfit, Indian City, landed three nominations this year, including Best Group or Duo, Best Video, and Single of the Year.

Rock newcomers Dee Erin Band picked up three nods for their debut, Broken Road, including Best Group or Duo, Best New Artist, and Best Rock CD.

Rapper Hellnback is up for Best Album Cover Design and Best Rap/Hip Hop CD for his latest, #FOE=Family Over Everything.

Songwriter/musician Jason Burnstick and Nadine L'Hirondelle are also double nominees for their work on Wrapped in Daisies, which won the duo nods for Best Folk/Acoustic CD and Best Indigenous Songwriter.

Other homegrown talent up for awards this year include: The Deeds, Jody Thomas Gaskin, and Kimberley Dawn, while NCI FM's National Aboriginal Music Countdown also landed a nod for Best Indigenous Music Radio Station/Program.

The IMAs take place during the annual Manito Ahbee Festival, which runs September 9-13, 2015 in Winnipeg. The awards gala will be broadcast on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.
