Gimli is looking like a good place to be for live music this August long weekend. Islendingadagurinn, or the Icelandic Festival of Manitoba, has announced its free stages lineup for the 126th annual celebration of Icelandic culture and heritage, and there's plenty of homegrown talent stepping up to the mic.

Running July 31 through August 2, the event -- the second oldest continuous ethnic festival in North America -- offers food, crafts, games, competitions, sport, and even a Viking village. It also offers music fans three nights live music in the outdoors.

This year's local lineup is a diverse bunch, including rhythm-drenched indie pop crew Attica Riots, neo-shoe-gaze duo Basic Nature, country garage rock outfit Blackhound, genre-defying pop act Somebody Language, indie electo popsters ATLAAS, ambient folk artist astre, indie pop/rock band Sc Mira, Conduct, Kieran West & His Buffalo Band, the return of Duotang, and more.

Touring acts invading for the weekend include Samantha Savage Smith, Laura Leif, and Woodpigeon.

Check out the schedule of live music below (keep it handy for the weekend with a free download of our Manitoba Live concert-finding app) and check out the festival's website for a complete listing of festivities.
