Harvest Moon Festival Celebrates 15 Years of Music and Sustainability
Live music in the great outdoors is a big Manitoba tradition. This fall, the Harvest Moon Festival is ready to heat up Clearwater for three days of workshops on sustainable living, farmer's market, kid's fun, fair trade fair, food vendors, and a big helping of local music surrounded by the beauty of the Pembina Valley.
Running September 16-18, the diverse lineup runs the gamut from roots to rap, including À La Mode, BB-Gun, Begonia, Bubba B The MC, Carly Dow, Heartbeat City, James Culleton, Laura Enns, Living Hour, The Lytics, Micah Erenberg, Micah Visser, Mika-Dawn, Quinton Blair, Ridley Bent, Roger Roger, Scott Nolan, Slow Spirit, Sweet Alibi, Those Memories: Tribute to Dolly, Linda, and Emmylou feat. Vanessa Kuzina, Jess Reimer, and Keri Latimer, William Prince, and more.
This year marks the festivals 15th year in Clearwater, working with the community to build an event that is both for and about the people of the area. To celebrate that commitment and relationship between the festival and its community, they'll open a permanent, year-round stage in Clearwater on land donated by area resident Dixie Gardiner.
“The community has ownership,” said festival organizer Robert Guilford in a release.
Harvest Moon Festival has helped support economic development and family farming in southwestern Manitoba. As well as economic development and great music, education and information has always played a significant role in the event. Festival goers can attend informative and hands-on workshops, which are free with admission. In addition to music and workshops, there will be a children’s area, an open mic stage, a fair-trade fair and farmer’s market, and locally-produced food from a variety of food vendors.
