Manitoba artists are heading out across the Atlantic this month for a slate of industry events in England, Wales, and the Netherlands.
Teaming up with fellow Western Canadian music industry associations SaskMusic, Alberta Music, and Music BC, Manitoba Music will co-host BreakOut West events at Focus Wales in Wrexham and The Great Escape in Brighton, as well as an inaugural spot at New Skool Rules in Rotterdam, one of the world's largest hip-hop/R&B/soul music festivals.
Winnipeg-based Northern Touch Music Festival & Conference will be making the trip to Rotterdam to present a showcase at New Skool Rules.
Artists building buzz and hitting showcase stages include rap triumvirate 3PEAT, indie pop poet Boniface, rapper Chris Bxnnxtt, bilingual pop singer/songwriter Kelly Bado, socially-conscious hip hop artist Malcolm-Jay, R&B/rap act Myazwe, hip hop/pop songwriter/producer Shea, and rapper viisi. Several of the artists will also hit venues for tour dates around the showcase spots.
The UK and Netherlands have been key markets for Manitoba acts, offering opportunities to build important business relationships with labels, festivals, and agents through export showcases and networking events.
Bringing Manitoba music to new geographic areas and intensifying trade activity in existing markets is a key component of Manitoba Music's trade and business development initiatives.
