Three Indigenous Artists from Across Canada to Showcase at Prestigious Mondo.NYC Event

Manitoba Music’s Indigenous Music Development Program (IMDP) will lead showcase and networking events at the prestigious Mondo.NYC featuring four acclaimed artists from across Canada next month.

Winnipeg-born and Hamilton-based electronic pop artist Iskwé, Montréal-based “Polar pop” act Elisapie, and JUNO-nominated DJ/producer DJ Shub will hit NYC showcase stages during the event, October 3-5.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art will host Northern Beat at Mondo.NYC: An Indigenous New Music Showcase presented by the Consulate General of Canada in New York, Manitoba Music, and Mondo.NYC on October 4 featuring Elisapie, iskwe, and DJ Shub.

This will be Manitoba Music's first time collaborating with Mondo.NYC, building on groundwork established during export projects in past years.

The trip is part of IMDP market development initiatives, working to promote and raise the profile of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit artists. Through events like these, Manitoba Music is able to increase the level of awareness and connection between our province’s music industry and the broader national and international industry, which is vital to the career advancement of Indigenous artists and industry professionals.

IMDP was launched in 2004 to help First Nation, Metis, and Inuit people develop sustainable careers in the music industry. The program delivers projects and services that respond to the needs of the industry as identified by a steering committee. The IMDP is supported by the Province of Manitoba and Manitoba Film & Music.

Manitoba Music is the hub of Manitoba’s vibrant music community. A member-based, not-for-profit industry association based in Winnipeg, Manitoba Music provides professional development, export marketing, and industry development to nurture and promote the growth of the music industry in Manitoba and beyond.

Manitoba Music would like to acknowledge the financial support of FACTOR, the Government of Canada and of Canada’s private radio broadcasters. Nous reconnaissons l’appui financier de FACTOR, du gouvernement du Canada, et des radiodiffuseurs privés du Canada.
