Manitoba Music Launches New Live Stream Music Video Project on October 23, Series to Feature JayWood, Lanikai, Silence Kit

Live local music is on the menu for Snack Sessions, Manitoba Music’s new music video series. Streamed via Facebook Live, the pilot project is set to feature three buzz-worthy emerging Manitoba acts playing some delicious tunes from the Manitoba Music environment, fueled by some iconic local nibbles and sips. Music fans can also get to know the performers with in-depth band profiles on manitobamusic.com.

Up-and-coming artist JayWood, aka Jeremy Haywood-Smith, kicks things off October 23. Carrying a unique sound that has been entirely self-taught, he combines indie-pop with jazz chords and a psychedelic feel. Currently working on his first full-length, his music is heart-felt and therapeutic at its core, but his music hosts a feel-good dance party at live performances.

Lanikai brings their indie soul/pop sound to the November 15 session. Featuring lead singer and songwriter Marti Sarbit (Imaginary Cities), the band’s first, self-titled offering has been turning heads with its gorgeous, poignant pop music, including a Western Canadian Music Award nod for Pop Artist of the Year, and recent spots at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Jazz Fest, Canada Day at The Forks, and more.

Silence Kit will turn up the volume on December 4. Fresh from the release of their new album, Silence Kit presents: Kitty Kitty, produced with Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung, Pack AD), and a tour of Ontario and Quebec, the four piece’s sound has been characterized as everything from alt-rock to post punk, a staple made readily apparent by their intimate and explosive live performances that always deliver on energy and passion.

Snack Sessions is made possible by the support of Corus Entertainment, with snacks provided by Old Dutch and Half Pints Brewing Company.
