Folk Music Ontario, Manitoba Music, and FACTOR are presenting the fourth edition of the Indigenous Artist Showcase at Folk Music Ontario, Canada's largest annual folk music conference. Four artists from Manitoba are heading east for the showcase at the Folk Music Ontario (FMO) conference, which runs September 27-29 in Mississauga.
This year's lineup features singer/songwriter and fiddle player Sierra Noble, blues/rocker Mitchell Mozdzen, country artist Desiree Dorion, and folk/country act Richard Inman. The artists will take the stage at the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel's York Ballroom on September 28 at noon for the two-hour showcase, emceed by Shaneen Robinson-Desjarlais, who coordinates the Indigenous Music Development Program at Manitoba Music.
FMO offers participants a chance to perform for influential national and international delegates from folk, roots, and world music scenes. The conference includes speakers and seminars, performer showcases, and jam sessions. Approximately 800 delegates attend the conference, including artistic directors, presenters, and provincial, national, and international industry organizations.
