Manitoba Music Update Re: COVID-19

Posted on

To our members, community, and friends:

Manitoba Music is following recommendations from public health officials and have closed our office and resource centre to members and the public until further notice. The health and safety of our team and our communities is our priority, and we believe everyone has a part to play in flattening the COVID-19 curve.

We are deeply committed to providing ongoing services to all of you and will remain available and reachable in this unprecedented and difficult time. We know many of you are scrambling to deal with cancelations and facing significant uncertainty, and we will do our utmost to support you.

  • All of our events over the next four weeks will be cancelled or postponed. If you’re involved in one of these events, stay tuned for details.
  • Consultations and meetings will done via phone, video chat, or email.
  • Paperwork and payments will be mailed rather than collected in person.
  • Reports due should be submitted electronically.

We advise all artists and music companies to track and document any financial losses relating to COVID-19 cancellations and changes.

Please keep an eye on www.manitobamusic.com/coronavirus for updates to info and resources, including support efforts. We’re staying connected with our networks across Canada, sharing best practices and info about our industries and advocacy efforts.

The Unison Benevolent Fund has emergency relief assistance available for music professionals. For counseling inquiries to help you deal with the financial or emotional impact of COVID-19, please contact 1-855-986-4766. You can find info about their emergency financial assistance at www.unisonfund.ca.

We know you are dealing with such an enormously challenging situation. Please know that we are in this with you and that we will keep working hard to help everyone navigate this.
