Manitoba Music and the National Art Centre are teaming up with facilitator and curator Ila Barker to present a new stream of online community-building, music-based workshop series AIRsessions. The series builds on the success of its first season last year and continues to feature guest artists in residence who shares their story, craft, and skills.

To kick off the online sessions, Barker will be joined by powerhouse pop artist Begonia on June 18 for an online workshop on performance, songwriting, and branding. Up to 10 participants can register to learn about the creative processes and share their own music and musical ideas. The workshop will take place in Zoom at 3PM CST.

Coming up, Barker will be joined by hip hop/R&B artist HAVS on July 2, rapper/producer The OB on July 16, hip hop artist/producer STMBLZ on July 30, JUNO-nominated singer/songwriter Renée Lamoureux on August 13.

Indigenous youth up to age 25 have registration priority and other participants will be accepted if space is available. To register and for more information, please contact Barker at ilabarkermusic@gmail.com.

This workshop is presented as part of the NAC Music Alive Program: Manitoba, in partnership with the sākihiwē festival, Music for Life, and Indigenous Music Development Program at Manitoba Music.
