IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE WEST END CULTURAL CENTRE

Friday, September 25, 2020

Friends:

We are heartbroken to report that in light of the new provincial health order placing Winnipeg in the Code Orange of the pandemic response system, we are suspending ticket sales for all events scheduled in the next four weeks at the West End Cultural Centre as well as postponing "Dr Henry's" event planned for today.

We are currently seeking clarification on what the order means for the audience capacity and most importantly for the safety of you, the artists, and our staff.
We thank you for your patience and understanding. Please know that health and safety is our highest priority.

The West End Cultural Centre has launched a new series of live music events in partnership with Jazz Winnipeg and Feast BistroCookin': Dinner and a Show. Music fans can take in performances from some stellar local artists while enjoying some delicious food from their neighbours at Feast.

Local mainstays Amber Epp and Leaf Rapids have already taken the stage for the genre-spanning series. It continues with the Afro-fusion jazz of the Dr. Henry Band (September 25), Latin music innovators the Papa Mambo Trio (October 2), the Latin and Flamenco jazz of Philippe Meunier Quartet with Argentinean singer/songwriter Onna Lou (October 9), seasoned jazz singer and pianist Helen White (October 16), artist and producer pioneer Breeze with Nu-Frequency Band (October 23), and the soul/pop/world music sounds of Kelly Bado (October 30). Bado's show also doubles as her album release for Hey Terre.

Feast will be providing the menu for each show, featuring modern dishes rooted in traditional First Nation food. Read more about Feast

“The West End Cultural Centre is elated to collaborate with Jazz Winnipeg for Cookin’: Local Music, Local Food. Our organizations have a long relationship and we’re excited to work together to welcome so many talented and diverse musicians to the WECC stage,” said Jorge Requena Ramos, Artistic Director at the WECC, in a release. “In light of ongoing COVID-19 guidelines, audience members will be able to enjoy dinner and a show knowing our commitment to safety and physical distancing protocols.”
