We’re saying farewell to Elise Roller, who is leaving Manitoba Music this week to launch her own music company, Misfit Music MGMT

Elise joined the team in 2017 to helm our professional development program and grew her portfolio to include several export development initiatives.

In her four years with us, Elise strengthened and expanded our foundation to nurture, develop, and promote the growth and sustainability of the music industry in Manitoba. She connected with music makers through  hundreds of consults and professional development events, offering countless hours of music industry training and mentorship.

Elise reimagined the MusicWorks professional development program, January Music Meeting, and the Canadian Songwriter Challenge, and launched the Decipher hip hop series. She collaborated with community partners to work towards a more equitable music industry through new initiatives including Equalizer audio training for women and non-binary folks, BPM | Black Professionals in Music, and a number of community-focused panels tackling critical topics. She moved quickly during the pandemic to adapt training and resources and launch virtual projects including peer mentor groups, music business mentorship, export accelerators, grant writing incubators, and the Catalyst Music Conference.

Elise is a tireless champion, a mentor and motivator, and heartfelt supporter of the Manitoba music community. Her vision, passion, fearlessness, and dedication have been an inspiration. She has challenged us to keep building a safer industry with more opportunities for all and we are a better organization because of her time with us.

We’ll miss Elise and are excited to see all she’s going to do next!
