Call for Hosts: Open Mic Night | Deadline: Dec 9

DEADLINE: Thursday December 9, 2021 at 4PM CT

Manitoba Music is planning another round of Open Mic Night at the West End Cultural Centre and submissions are now open for hosts! Each open mic will be hosted by a different Manitoba Music member, who will share some of their own music and welcome the night’s roster of performers. Hosts are offered a small honorarium. This opportunity will have a strong focus on gender diversity and BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ voices. Events may pivot online depending on health restrictions.

To be considered as a host, you must:

• Be available from 6-9PM on at least one of the following (indicate all availabilities in your submission):
  • January 18
  • February 15
  • March 15
  • April 19
  • May 17
• Be able to perform up to 10 songs of original music 
• Be a Manitoba Music member and current resident of Manitoba
• Be fully vaccinated by two weeks before your chosen hosting date
• Be 18 years of age or older, or have accompaniment of legal guardian

Preference will be given to artists who:

• Are solo performers
• Have cultivated a local audience and local media coverage
• Have a track record of strong live performances
• Have a strong social media presence
• Have not previously hosted our Open Mic Nights
• Have an updated Manitoba Music profile

Submissions will be evaluated based on:

• Music
• Quality of promotional materials
• Social media presence
• Momentum, demonstrated in your bio and recent accomplishments in existing or other projects
