Winnipeg Folk Festival Announces 2022 Lineup

The Winnipeg Folk Festival has made summer official with the release of its 2022 lineup! The four-day music discovery event will make its triumphant return to Birds Hill Park from July 7-10, sharing a stellar lineup with festival-goers including talented acts from all across Manitoba. 

Amongst the list of local performers includes Americana troubadour Bobby Dove, country outlier Boy Golden, singer/songwriter Del Barber, indie pop artist FONTINE, indie-alternative project JayWood, Ukrainian-descent folk-punk group ZRADA, children’s entertainer James Culleton, family folk Jessee Havey & the Banana Band, singer/songwriter Leith Ross, bluegrass band The Stanley County Cutups, Francophone family artists Madame Diva et Micah, folk/country baritone Richard Inman, multi-instrumentalist R&B singer/songwriter Sebastian Gaskin, Hoop dancer Shanley Spence, and folk roots-pop outfit Sweet Alibi, plus expat Allison de Groot (with Tatiana Hargreaves).

Touring acts hitting the stage year's festival include marquee names like Portugal. The Man, Tash Sultana, Japanese Breakfast, Lido Pimienta, The Strumbellas, Jeremy Dutcher, Cadence Weapon, Arooj Aftab, Kurt Vile, PIQSIQ, the legendary Buddy Guy, and many (many) more. This year's fest will have plenty of special music moments, including rock and roll hall of fame Jerry Harrison collaborating with songwriter/producer Adrian Belew to play the Talking Heads' Remain in Light.

"We are so excited to get back out to Birds Hill Park with an incredible lineup for the return of the Winnipeg Folk Festival. With the support of our incredible community throughout the pandemic, we've been able to make a strong homecoming by bringing artists from all over and who appeal to all ages and all music lovers,” said Chris Frayer, Artistic Director of the Winnipeg Folk Festival, in a media release. "The incredible talent we have lined up will really highlight our artistic vision of presenting strong and diverse talent that will resonate with our audience."
