Jazz Fest Gears Up for Summer Festival, June 14-19

Feels a little more like summer as Jazz Winnipeg gears up for the return of the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival

Kicking off June 14 with the special two-night JazzFest x CMHR event, this year's festivities return to the stage with a genre-spanning lineup that highlights innovative artists from Manitoba shining alongside stellar touring acts from across Canada and beyond. 

The Club Series returns to this year's festivities with events at the King's Head Pub, Royal Albert Arms, West End Cultural Centre, and Cinematheque. 

Performances at the Royal Albert Arms will include local acts Amber Epp, Erin Propp & Larry Roy, Jocelyn Gould, and Ron Paley, plus late-night jam sessions hosted by Karly Epp + Karl Kohut. Touring acts performing in the series include Joanna Majoko, Amanda Tosoff featuring Emilie-Claire Barlow, Laila Biali, Jeremy Ledbetter Trio with Larnell Lewis + Rich Brown, Elizabeth Shepherd + Michael Occhipinti (ES:MO), and Ingrid Laubrock + Andy Milne

The King's Head Pub will feature performances from Jennifer Hanson + Her Handsome Lads, Sheena Rattai, two volumes of Winnipeg in the Round with Sierra Noble, the music of Paul SimonThe Pre-Funk with Kilusan, Boogey the Beat + DJ Hunnicutt, and Jazz Meets Drag featuring Moxie Cotton.

Jazz Fest combines forces with the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra for two shows at the West End Culture including the East Meets West concert featuring Jill Townsend and Christine Jensen, plus two nights with the High School Honour Jazz Band.

Cinematheque will host four shows featuring student collabs and up-and-comers including Jasmine + The Jazzmen, Evan Miles QuartetNoontune, and Tetyana Haraschuk

Music fans can also enjoy free live music in the great outdoors at the CMHR Patio and The Cube at Old Market Square. 

The Jazz x CMHR Patio performances will take place on June 14 - 17. Artists set to hit the stage include Adele M. Wilding Jazz, Rosemarie TodaschukViolet Vopni, Raine Hamilton, Sol James, Andrew Littleford, Sophie Stevens, Madeleine Roger, Matt Foster, Rob Knaggs, Paige Drobot, and more.

Old Market Square shows will run June 16 - 19 and feature Len Bowen, HAVS, Anthony OKS, Dirty Catfish Brass Band, Brazilian Vibe, Emmanuel Bach, Marco Castillo + Brazilian Beats, Brandi Vezina, The Grey Jays, Diaphanie,  Beatox, Jérémie & The Delicious Hounds, Apollo Suns, Jason Willows, Leaf Rapids,  The Noble Thiefs, Mise en SceneSuper Duty Tough Work, and more.

The theatre is also set to kick off the month with Jazz on Film, three jazz-centric films running June 1 - 10 including Learn to SwimSummer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)No Ordinary ManBix: 'Ain't None of Them Play Like Him Yet'Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story, and Neptune Frost
