Call for Mentors: Monitor Mix Peer Mentor Groups

Deadline: Tuesday, May 9 at 5PM

Manitoba Music is getting ready to offer a new round of MONITOR MIX Peer Mentor Groups and is looking for mentors to share their experience and knowledge.

MONITOR MIX is a program designed to help Manitoba Music members make new connections, build community, and learn more about the music industry in a small group setting.

Mentors lead the small groups and provide guidance and feedback while creating opportunities for participants to share ideas, resources, and support with each other. Each month, mentors will host a gathering with their groups to discuss questions, challenges, and triumphs as they build a career in music. Mentors will create safe and accepting environments within their peer groups in order to promote connections between participants and maintain confidentiality within the group. Mentors will be paid an honorarium.

What makes a good mentor? A good mentor is someone who’s active and working professionally in the music industry for at least 2-5 years as an artist, manager, agent, booker / show promoter, songwriter, producer, DJ, publicist / marketing and communications expert, etc. A good mentor is generous with their knowledge, time, and energy and is patient and kind when working with their mentees and is passionate about helping their community.

If this sounds like you and you are interested in becoming a MONITOR MIX mentor, please apply by filling out the application form.

Selected mentors will either be assigned a group to mentor or be placed on our waiting list if we don’t currently have a group in need of a mentor. The number of active peer mentor groups is based on demand, and new groups will be formed as needed.
