Music Meetup with Entrepreneurial Focus Returns to the West End Cultural Centre, Free Local Showcase to Take Place at The Beer Can

Sound Waves Music Meeting (SWMM) returns this month for the second edition of the creative conference on industry development and community connection, presented by Manitoba Music.

SWMM welcomes industry pros and music makers for specialized and interactive training through presentations, discussions, mixers, one-on-one meetings, and creative sessions. This year’s programming focuses on artist entrepreneurship and business development, with solid advice from professionals on navigating the ever-evolving music sector.

SWMM’s goal is to offer the music community in Manitoba an opportunity to learn from, network with, and be inspired by a cross section of industry experts and local peers. Both emerging and established music makers will benefit from skills-building presentations on topics including finding investment, strategic planning, branding, content creation, music in film and TV and games, music law, and more. This year will also feature new opportunities dedicated to songwriting and content development including songwriting room sessions and demo listening sessions. Check out the SWMM schedule

Mentors sharing their expertise include artists activist Annette Hegel (SCALE-LeSAUT), entrepreneur and business coach Audrey Wensley, professional songwriter Blue In Tokio, Steve Aoki’s manager and YMU Group partner Dougie Bohay, music supervisor Everton Lewis Jr. (Wracket Music), artist and composer Jason Burnstick, composer and sound designer Julian Beutel (FlightyFelon Games), entertainment lawyers Michael Duboff and Burt Gidaro (Edwards Creative Law), creative director and entrepreneur Sydney Krause (Pauvre Riche Studio), and independent filmmaker and cinematographer Vince Tang.
