Cluster Festival Unveils 2024 Lineup and Programming

One of Winnipeg's most innovative festivals returns for a new season of dynamic, multidisciplinary programming. Cluster: New Music + Integrated Arts Festival has unveiled its 2024 lineup including concerts, exhibits, workshops, and more, with events running in various city venues May 25 to June 9.
Performers include instrumental trio Compost; award-winning composer, sound designer, and percussionist Debashis Sinha; drummer and percussionist Jason Tait; DJ and sound artist Konjo; pianist Madeline Hildebrand; electronic artists meanspath and domo11, cellist Natanielle Felicitas, Toronto-based composer and saxophonist Olivia Shortt, creator/composer/interpreter Sarah Jo Kirsch, and more. Catch the events at The Forks' Room 201, West End Cultural Centre, and VideoPool Media Arts Centre.
Throughout the festival, The Poolside Gallery at VideoPool Media Arts Centre will be home to the Environment Machine Shop, an exhibition by Michael Lucenkiw of interactive artworks where visitors can play, learn, and interact with water samples collected from several sites along the Red River in Winnipeg.
This year's programming also includes a few special opportunities to interact and engage. Led by Sarah Jo Kirsch, Vocal Queeries is open to individuals of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, identities, and orientations who want to explore the expansive spectrum of vocal expression and the unique beauty of their own voices in a safe and inclusive space for exploration and growth. The workshops run May 25 and 26, 10 AM - 3 PM at VideoPool Media Arts Centre. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. The Bring Your Own Score Workshop Series, which is already underway, offers an extremely rare chance for composers to workshop their music with live musicians. The festival will also host Play: Graphic Scoring for Kids and Movement + Sound: Weather Parade Dance Theatre, both at The Forks' Room 201 on June 8.
"Cluster 2024 is here to guide you, with four incredible music events premiering new and exciting music from world-class artists locally and nationally, an interactive audio sculptural installation that brings us closer to the waterways that shape this fine city, and a new series of workshops for the curious and creative (of all ages!)," says artistic director Ash Au on the festival's side, welcoming audiences into this year's roster of events.
