Music fans can keep their summer of live music going in the heart of Winnipeg June 28- 29 with central Canada's largest Afro and Indo-Caribbean music festival, the Soca Reggae Festival. Now in its 17th year, the festival returns to Old Market Square for two days of live music at The Cube, celebrating Caribbean culture and community.

Local artists sharing their genre-spanning music this year include Dancehall/Reggae musician/professional dancer/choreographer Black Lantern, roots rock Reggae Dub band Dub City Foundation, steel band the Hi-Life Steel Orchestra, Afrobeat/Reggae artist Jedimz, Nigerian singer/songwriter/producer Konfam, Afrobeats / hip hop / R&B singer/songwriter Qway C, and many more.

Touring artists making their way to Winnipeg for the event include Gyal Ediot from Calgary, Jahmiel and harly Black from Jamaica, Afro B from London, Avibe from Trinidad, Chris Fireman from Toronto, Motto from St. Lucia, and more.

Plenty of DJs will be spinning tunes between sets, including Cheryl, Mastahpiece, Powers, Sly, and Spanglish. Audiences can also catch dynamic dance performances from Trini Bacchanal and Dynamite Dance Troupe.

Started in 2006, the festival is an all-ages, family-friendly event with a variety of community vendors, food vendors sharing Caribbean eats, as well as a licensed beverage garden.
