Kah-beh Nahgamowaat Videos Highlight Indigenous Artists From Manitoba
Four-Part Genre-Spanning Series Premieres February 27 via YouTube
Four Indigenous artists from Manitoba are in the spotlight in the second edition of the Kah-beh Nahgamowaat live performance video series. Produced through the Indigenous Music Development Program at Manitoba Music, the series premieres on February 27 at 12 PM CT via Manitoba Music’s YouTube channel and will run weekly.
The series focuses on original new music from artists in local Indigenous music communities. Each artist will be able to add the professionally filmed videos to their career development toolkits, creating key content that’s become critical to making festival and venue booking connections, expanding fan bases, and accessing new markets.
Singer/songwriter Eric Lavoie kicks off the series with his blend of folk, country, blues, and psychedelia on the song “This is My Home” on February 27. Country/Americana singer/songwriter Jade Turner shares her song “Marion” on March 6. Roots/rocker Mitchell Makoons performs his song “Better With Time” on March 13. Hip hop artist Ghost Drum closes the series with his song “Outside” on March 20.
Produced with Kejic Productions, a Winnipeg-based company owned and operated by Cree/Ojibway producer and director Erica Daniels, Kah-beh Nahgamowaat was filmed on location at Anish Healing Centre. The performances were recorded, mixed and mastered by CTRL Space Records.
Kah-beh Nahgamowaat is an Anishinaabe phrase meaning “They are here singing” gifted by Colin Mousseau, Shkaabih Traditional Medicine Helper.
“I’m excited for music fans to experience the powerful performances by these incredibly talented artists and the stories that shape their songs,” says producer Cassidy Mann, the Indigenous Music Development Coordinator at Manitoba Music. “We’re deeply thankful to Erica Daniels and everyone on her team for helping build the vision and share these moments.”
The IMDP was launched in 2004 to support First Nation, Métis, Inuit, and artists and music companies develop sustainable careers in the music industry. The program delivers projects and services that respond to the needs of the industry as identified by a steering committee. The IMDP is supported by the Manitoba Government and Manitoba Film & Music.

Eric Lavoie’s music is rooted in a commitment to honest storytelling. With courage and sincerity, he shares songs about struggle, perseverance, triumph, and truth, whether the stories are uplifting or heavy.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, on Treaty No. 1 Territory, Eric started playing piano as a child and picked up the guitar at fourteen; the same age he learned of his Métis heritage. This discovery sparked a journey of learning about his ancestry, the history of the land, and the stories that shape both.
Blending elements of folk, country, blues, and psychedelia, Eric strives to create songs that feel true to himself. He aims to give the melodies and stories the space they need to come alive.
Above all, Eric hopes his music can contribute to positive change, offering listeners a chance to reflect, connect, and find meaning.
