CJ the Grey

Cristo Jonas Wilson aka CJ the Grey is an indigenous musician born in Cross Lake First Nation. The remote reservation in Northern Manitoba is where a young CJ found hip hop. CJ gravitated towards the boom bap and story telling of golden era hip hop and was inspired to start writing himself by larger than life Manitoban acts like Winnipeg’s Most and Boogey the Beat.

CJ burst onto the scene in 2016 at the age of 16 making a name for himself making freestyle videos over classic beats and finding his own sound with the help of Studio 393, a free youth-led arts studio & an initiative of Winnipeg’s Graffiti Art Programming Inc.

After performing several shows throughout the province, CJ has locked in with Winnipeg Producer Crabskull (E.GG, Charlie Fettah) to create his debut project Arlington Yard, an exploration of dark lo-fi hip hop releasing in 2022.
