Grant Simpson

About

Grant Simpson is a veteran traditional jazz pianist who has specialized in stride piano, ragtime and swing.   Having spent over 40 years in the theatre business as composer, arranger and musical director which kept him immersed in the vintage styles of jazz and blues all his life.  

In 2022 a full length musical called "Dogtown: The Musical" was release at the Yukon Arts Centre.  Grant was composer and lyricist.  He is currently working on a new musical "Do They Miss Me at Home".  

He is also the creator and producer of many programs in Winnipeg including:  Cafe des Voix,  Stories to Songs, Crescent Arts Centre Vaudeville Camp for older adults and the MAD about TRAD Jazz programs currently being offered at the Crescent Arts Centre. 

He regularly plays piano for Silent Movies around town and he is a member of several bands including: "The Spectacles" with Tim Osmond and Jaxon Haldane, Two Piano Tornado with Annie Avery and Jonesy and Simpson with Shauna Jones.
