Katrina Van Humbeck, a life-long musician and educator of more than two decades, began songwriting after the death of her mother in 2016 and she never stopped.
With already two full-length albums of original songs to her credit, 'Blue & Beyond' (2017) and 'Doing A New Thing' (2018), this nominee in the Western Canadian Music Awards (Spiritual Artist of the Year), is thrilled to be releasing her third album, 'Stronger Still.'
This new album reflects a jazz fusion style, yet Katrina dug down to her roots of faith in God, and out came a collection of songs designed to touch the heart and soul. It is music that is sincere, full of vulnerability, and tells stories that are familiar and relatable.
This album is a triumph for Katrina, as she not only sang and played the piano on all ten tracks, she also self-arranged the musical scores, served as executive producer, and hand picked all the musicians and industry professionals who recorded along with her. including award winning asistant producer and sound engineer, John Paul Paters at Private Ear Recording. Richard Gills (founder of the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra) on trumpet. Karl Kohut (assistant professor of Jazz studies) on double bass. Larry Roy (JUNO nominated) on guitar. and Rodrigo Munoz (Papa Mambo Salsa Band) on percussion.
Katrina was delighted to have released her album, 'Stronger Still' on April 30th at the CCFM (Centre Cultural Franco-Manitobain), in Winnipeg, MB. to a wonderful and well-receiving audience. Having performed with her band of stellar musicians and to a live audience, was a little heaven on earth.
