Katrina Van Humbeck is a life-long musician and educator of more than two decades. She began songwriting after the death of her mother in 2016 and she never stopped.
Katrina delivers powerful and expressive vocals, yet full of subtle nuances. Her music refelcts jazz/ classical/ blues and soul sensabilites and is inspired by the themes of love, courage, faith and living life. She has released three full-length studio recorded albums of original songs: 'Stronger Still' (2022),' Doing A New Thing' (2018), and Blue & Beyond (2017), earning her nominations in the Gospel Music Awards Canada 2022 (Jazz or Blues Artist of The Year), and in the Western Canadian Music Awards 2020 (Spiritual Artist of the Year).
Katrina has had the privilege of working with some of Canada's finest music industry professionals, including award winning producer and sound engineer, John Paul Peters at Private Ear Recording. Richard Gills (founder of the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra) on trumpet. Karl Kohut (assistant professor of Jazz studies) on double bass. Larry Roy (JUNO nominated) on guitar, Rodrigo Munoz (Papa Mambo Salsa Band) on percussion, and the Ron Paley quartet.
Whether she is performing solo, in a trio, or with a full ten piece band, Katrina delights in sharing her music with others. She hopes that listeners will not only enjoy her music, but become inspired to experience life in a fuller way.
Katrina possesses a B.A Hons in Theatre / Music performance (University of Winnipeg), and a B. Ed in Theatre / Music (University of Manitoba).
