Canadian musicians and music producers are required to submit copies of every work they have ever produced. We also ask that the number of copies submitted corresponds to the following requirements

Submit 1 copy of every physical format (CD, vinyl record, cassette) for every music album
Submit 2 copies of every physical format for every piece of sheet music
Submit 2 copies of every physical format (DVD, Blu-ray) for every video recording

Please note that at this time we are not accepting digital materials for deposit.

In addition to the recordings or sheet music, they are asked to complete the legal deposit form that corresponds with the material they are submitting. Copies of the form can be found on our website: https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/services/legal-deposit/Pages/music-and-video-recordings.aspx.

Once accepted, we will catalogue the materials and make a record for them in Aurora, the national union catalogue. Musicians and producers will receive an official legal deposit by email.
