MoonBell

About

MoonBell's greatest fear is to forget: lose his memory, forget his loved ones, and lose himself. But this multi-instrumentalist is creating worlds for his memories to live on. MoonBell is a storyteller through synths, choral voices, looping effects andof course, his trumpet which can be heard in the foreground or background of almost every song.Influenced by his experiences living and travelling in Spain, the Canadian Prairies and the Rocky Mountains, MoonBell composes his music like a symphony, meticulously layering sound aftersound, memory after memory, with an end result that completely entrances listeners. His third LP, "Optimistc Absurdity", is due for release on May 10, 2024.

MoonBell's chamber pop albums are largely born from his fear of losing his memory: "It's always been a deep fear of mine because I believe these memories, good and bad, are what make us who we are." So Josh Richert, the multi-instrumentalist and classically trained trumpet player and tenor, went back and picked moments he felt were the most important to remember as time goes on. Building ethereal soundscapes through layered harmonies and trumpets, the focal instrument of his music, MoonBell invites listeners into his most beloved stories with very few lyrics.
MoonBell draws inspiration from his favourite artists like Mimicking Birds, Madison Cunningham, Snarky Puppy, Bill Laurence, Kings of Convenience, and Jacob Collier.
