The Keen & The Kind

About

The Keen & The Kind is Violet Vopni - lead vocals and songwriting, Clinton Giesbrecht - guitar, piano, Kevin Cote - percussion, Alana Giesbrecht - back up vocals, Stephen Chubaty - harmonica, trombone. They're easy going folks with music that sparks emotions in their listeners. Their songs range from upbeat pop to groovy smooth jazz to thought provoking folk. Each song tells a different story and draws fans in to listen. They advocate for those affected by mental health and addictions. Their upcoming single "Joseph" shares Violet's story of her great grandfather who was born in 1900, fought in WW1 and struggled with alcoholism throughout his life. The Keen & The Kind are inspired by Ray Lamontagne, Ani DiFranco, Adele, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and many others. Their song “How Many Times” has been featured on CBC’s Up To Speed, the Indigenous Music Countdown and Manitoba Music’s Song of the Week. Their first album "Unacknowledged" came out on March 5th. They are currently working on a deluxe album to be released in 2021. Their single "Joseph" comes out on December 4th, 2020.
