Keri Latimer
"Mud and Slobber"

From the album Crowsfeet and Greyskulls

Featured track, available from August 9 to August 17

August is heating up with Manitoba music. There are a dozen or so festivals across the province proudly featuring homegrown talent this month, from roots to hip-hop to blues to indie rock and beyond. And while it's not quite within the keystone borders, Trout Forest Music Festival will once again have plenty representatives from friendly Manitoba on its stages. The festival takes over Ear Falls in northwestern Ontario August 10-12 and features performances by Federal Lights; Rambling Dan Frechette; Hillbilly Burlesque; The Magnificent 7s; Nathan; Scott Nolan; Fred Penner; Ken Pinchin; Red Moon Road; The Sturgeons; Woodshed Havoc; and Keri Latimer. Before Latimer, who also fronts Juno-winning quartet Nathan, heads to Trout Forest, she'll be at the West End Cultural Centre opening for James Vincent Morrow on August 9. After Trout Forest, Latimer will pop over to Anola for the Anola Little Music Festival on August 18. Meanwhile, you can download "Mud and Slobber" off Latimer's acclaimed debut solo effort, Crowsfeet and Greyskulls. In its four-star review of the album, the Winnipeg Free Press said this duet with NQ Arbuckle "might be the most beautiful song released by a local artist this year". Download it for yourself and go out and see Latimer live.
