Madeleine Roger
"Love Only Grows"
From the album Love Only Grows
Featured track, available from July 4 to July 11
When the Winnipeg Folk Festival makes its return to Birds Hill Park this July 11-14, it brings with it a powerfully talented group of local artists for the weekend of music discovery in the pristine outdoors. Acclaimed singer/songwriter Madeleine Roger makes her Folk Fest debut as a performer this year (she's been a fixture working behind-the-scenes on Main Stage for many years), bringing a slew of new tunes as she gears up for the August 30 release of her first full-length album, Nerve. Roger will also be performing with The Fretless at this year's Folk Fest. Produced by Josh Kaufman (Bonny Light Horseman, Anais Mitchell, Bob Weir, Hiss Golden Messenger), the album comes out via Winnipeg label Birthday Cake Records, who signed Rogers in May of this year. Her new work is already turning heads, including charting on the CBC Top 20 Countdown for the first single, "You Don't Think About Me". Coming up, Roger will be at the Finer Spirit Festival in Roland (July 20), Walking Winnipeg Rivers (July 26), plus ArtsWells in BC and Owen Sound's Summerfolk Festival next month. Hometown audiences will have to wait until November 23 to celebrate Roger's new album in person at the West End Cultural Centre, but we've got her latest single "Love Only Grows" for you as this week's feature! Press play, stay tuned for the album, and do not miss Madeleine Roger live at the Winnipeg Folk Festival!
