Ripped Hat is a 19-year-old emerging blues artist in the Canadian music scene, born and raised in Winnipeg, in a home filled with music. Throughout his childhood he faced many challenges and surgeries, which prevented him from playing sports. However, at the age of 13 he picked up a bass guitar and has never looked back. Initially influenced by the Gorillaz, over the next couple years Ripped Hat found himself listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Elmore James, and Robert Johnson. He discovered a love for blues music that inspired him to play more and to one day become a bluesman himself. Ripped Hat’s music stays rooted in the traditional rhythms found in the Chicago, Delta, Texas, and Electric blues.
Among his current projects Ripped Hat is currently working on his first album, featuring his own original material which will be released in Summer 2020.
He can be found as a regular performer at the Sunday Night Blues Jam, hosted by Big Dave McLean, at the Times Changed.
