About

Given his upbringing in a musical house, it’s only natural that Thomas Steur would begin to grow into his childhood stage name of Trampy Trails. He has been playing music since he was 4, busking and writing since 15, and performing from 16. He has been host of Sam’s Place open mic night since he was 17 and has been performing at X-Cues, the Park Theatre, Climate Strikes, CBC Radio 1, CKUW 95.9, among other cafes and events.

Drawing inspiration from Gord Downie, Neil Young, Tim Baker, Stephen Stills, and local Winnipeg musicians around him, he writes acoustic folk music about his roots at home and the issues he sees around him. He recently recorded his music at UMFM 101.5, leading to his debut release, Beneath These Trees, reviewed in The Manitoban as, “a delicate portrait of one person’s Winnipeg, joining a long legacy of music inspired by the city and its people.” Thomas plans to begin touring rural communities of the province he calls home, and will eventually make it out to other provinces to establish a career as a musician. In the constant pursuit of drawing reflections of the golden age of folk music, he continues compiling song after new song for his audiences to hear. Though he may only have one acoustic EP out, “in all its homespun simplicity - [it] is simply a portrait of an artist in motion, growing toward something bigger."
