Volunteering at Manitoba Music
Some of the things we do at Manitoba Music wouldn’t be possible without the help of our generous volunteers. If you're interested in getting involved, check out the main areas we need some volunteer help with.
What is Manitoba Music?
We are a member-based, not-for-profit industry association working with over 750 members in all facets of the music industry, including artists and bands, studios, agents, managers, songwriters, venues, promoters, producers, and beyond. Manitoba Music serves all genres. Through our programs and services, we provide information, education, communication, advocacy, industry development, and networking opportunities to nurture, develop and promote the growth and sustainability of the Manitoba music industry. What kind of volunteering opportunities are available?
We currently have volunteer opportunities in the following areas: MusicWorks workshops, Passport: Music Export Program summit, research and admin, and other live music events.
MusicWorks workshop and panels are an integral part of what we do here at Manitoba Music. We bring in industry mentors from across Canada and beyond to share their experience and knowledge on an array of music business topics. Workshops run a few times each month in the fall, winter, and spring.
The PASSPORT: Music Export Summit is a week-long event in February. We'll have a bunch of volunteer opportunities like shuttling folks to and from the airport, setting up and tearing down the meeting spaces, preparing some swag bags, and more.
Manitoba Music has many projects on the go and we sometimes have research and admin opportunities during our regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 10AM - 5PM). This can be a great way to build your admin skills and get some behind-the-scene knowledge.
Manitoba Music hosts regular live music events throughout the year. This can be a great way to see local music and connect with the local music community.
What are the benefits of volunteering?
Volunteering can be a great way to develop skills in event management, learn more about music business, connect with the local music community and visiting industry, learn about different professional development topics, learn more about music business, develop basic office skills, and get to know Manitoba Music better.
What jobs do the volunteers do?
Depending on the opportunity: our volunteers set up events, take photos, run registration, provide security support, assist with office work, provide transportation for panelists, and assist with tear down.
How old do I have to be to volunteer?
Our volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Are there certain skills or training that I need in order to volunteer?

How do I know which event I will work on? Will I have to join the schedule in advance or can I just show up?
