Generating something from nothing
Think you can’t write music because you don’t have musical theory training? Have a deadline, but feeling uninspired? In this workshop we will be joined by DJ and producer Anna Morgan as she covers a topic that musicians of all skill levels are always dealing with writer's block. In this 90-minute session, Anna will demonstrate some of her techniques to beat block and come up with new ideas, as well as the workflow she uses to finish songs and keep her music exciting. We’ll also get a look behind the scenes at some of Anna’s own track production project sessions where the key song elements are generated by the DAW.
During this workshop we will be exploring musical material created in Ableton Live; however the basic theories and concepts discussed should work in any DAW.
Anna will be joined by Andrew Yankiwski who will help moderate a Q&A and offer his additional professional studio advice where applicable. This workshop will cover many topics and provide valuable information for producers of all skill levels.

ABOUT ANNA MORGAN
Anna Morgan is a producer, DJ, label head, promoter and curator moving between NYC and LA.This Bronx native is a connoisseur of globally minded low-end frequencies exploring the junction of urban and tribal. She is a founder of the lauded multi-genre party HEAVY, and also founded the NYC based Worst Behavior Recs label and party series. Through her music and work she highlights urban diasporic stories while catering to dance enthusiasts, spanning a variety of aesthetics.
As a music producer and DJ Anna creates a fresh fusion of hybrid sounds informed by east coast club music and sound system culture. She brings a fresh perspective to music from her experience as a dancer and her urban Caribbean roots, infusing movement, freedom, and nostalgia through her unique sound.
