Lay out a plan that will best optimize your release. Publicist Kat Stewart and Music Programs Manager Jason Smith will give you the tools and techniques to help maximize the best opportunities for press and attention for your release. In this workshop, they will also explain the logistics of planning a release including setting timelines, establishing budgets, manufacturing, creative marketing, publicity, the importance of a strong online presence, distribution and tracking sales.

About Kat Stewart
Kat Stewart handiwork has been instrumental in a full spectrum of press campaigns; from supporting local bands on their first tour across Canada, to putting Taylor Swift on the cover of Flare Magazine. Beginning her career at Outside Music, she handled Canadian press for labels such as Ninja Tune (Amon Tobin, Kid Koala), Saddle Creek (Bright Eyes, The Faint), Def Jux (El-P, Murs) and Sub Pop (Hot Hot Heat, Wolf Parade, The Shins, Rogue Wave). At digital communications company iStudio, she had the opportunity to build her digital and social media marketing skills, developing online strategies for brands such as Gatorade and the launch of eMusic in Canada.She managed the publicity for music icons Robbie Robertson, Steve Earle and Taylor Swift, as well as Juno Award winning hip hop artist Shad, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and many more at MapleMusic and Fontana North.

About Jason Smith
Prior to joining MFM, Jason has enjoyed success for over two decades in many positions with the local, national, and international music industries. He has had 14 years experience as co-owner and operator of record label, Smallman Records (with over 50 releases internationally and over 100,000 albums sold to date).
