About

I had never heard of Edmonton’s Post Script prior to the WECC booking Canada’s newest sweethearts a couple of months back, into their tiny ACU Hall. But after falling in love with this dynamic trio there, I stressed the need for them to return ASAP to Crescentwood’s most intimate music venue and whadayaknow - here they come! This will be 2016’s first show at The StuDome and we couldn’t be kicking the season off with a better combo.

Post Script’s debut album “If Not For You” was released 6 months ago, receiving such accolades as “one of Edmonton’s hidden gem bands” and “maybe the most gorgeous pieces of melancholia I have heard all year.” Founding members Steph Blais (acoustic guitar) and Paul Cournoyer (upright bass) have made a record that showcases the best parts of their musical relationship; a charming exchange of languages, a sincere effort to honour their Franco-Albertan heritage, and a wider range of influences and textures layered in the songwriting. Modern indie-folk permeates many of the tracks, while others give way to more traditional, old-country performances. Steph’s distinct vocal is never without conviction, at times echoing a subtle but satisfying Dolly-twang, and always finding a perfect blend to Paul’s baritone harmonies. Paul’s upright bass provides a steady backbone, while electric guitarist Brayden Treble fills every gap with sharp Nashville leads or rich and dangerous reverb-washed textures that fans of Chris Isaak are sure to swoon over.

Being a Saturday night on the cusp of summer, depending on the weather this could well be another of the StuDome’s famous BBQ events too. Book your seat now to be sure you get in on what we guarantee will be a fabulous evening!
