It was April 23, 1996 that I Mother Earth released their follow up album to their massively successful debut, Dig. This was at the height of Canada's new rock explosion and the band was at the forefront of it with this percussive, jammy, expansive yet entirely focused release.
Here we are with 2016 bearing down on us and the band has decided to turn back the clock a bit, hit the road and tour behind the 20th anniversary of Scenery & Fish, the most successful and influential album of their lengthy career. 2016 will bring with it from the band, special releases and events related to S&F. The band doesn't tour regularly, performing only when it suits them...but this bench-mark album in their career seemed like the perfect excuse to get out and play the whole thing along with selected hits and misses from their discography... an incredible evening with I Mother Earth.
Some S&F facts:
-Scenery & Fish went triple platinum.
-It spawned 4 top five singles... One More Astronaut, Another Sunday, Used To Be Alright and Raspberry.
-The album was recorded in Quebec at Morin Heights legendary studio, Le Studio. Engineered and co-produced with Paul Northfield. (Rush)
-Renowned percussionist and Sesame Street alumnus Luis Conte, also appears on S & F.
-Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson made a guest appearance on the song, Like A Girl.
As experienced by thousands of fans since getting back at things diligently in 2012, IME shows are notoriously epic....
An evening with I Mother Earth celebrating 20 years of Scenery & Fish will truly be a wild experience, and it expires December 31st 2016.
