About
On October 28th, we revisit the poem that inspired it all 30 years ago: Not By Bread Alone, by Varlam Shalamov. We invited the families of founders, early volunteers and advocates that created a landmark and award winning venue.
Parents and children will together perform each other’s songs proving that the West End Cultural Centre has been both community and family, inspired by an idea, inspired by a poem, flourishing 30 years later and ready for 30 more and another generation of dreamers and poets.
Families taking part include founder and original Artistic Director Mitch Podolak and his son Leonard Podolak (The Duhks), Wally Landreth and son Dave Landreth (The Bros. Landreth), Harry Havey, Karen Dana & daughter Jessee Havey (The Duhks, Nation of Two) with son-in-law Nathaniel Good (Nation of Two), Lloyd Peterson and son/daughter duo Lucas and Madeleine Roger (Roger Roger), Daniel Koulack and son George Bajer-Koulack with stage management and hospitality organized by Thom Sparling and his children Rowan and Declan Sparling.
