'In oblivion, all is one and equal"

And so begins the epic and memorable experience that is the 'Present Times'. Recorded in the cold winter months of 2012, at the prestigious Private Ear Studios in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, 'Present Times' evokes the spirit of the 'eternal moment of now' with catchy, thoughtful California-inspired folk music.

The 15 song album was co-produced by John Paul Peters and Alexander McCowan and contains such instrumentation as the trumpet, violin, cello, piano and classical guitars. At the centre, is moustached singer/songwriter Alexander McCowan and his three muses - the acoustic guitar, the weissenborn and the ukulele.

Lyrically, 'Present Times' delves into larger themes such as time, change and motion, while remaining clear and transparent by utilizing vivid and sharp imagery. Musically, Alexander McCowan borrows from numerous genres to achieve all over-all effect of a deep, laid back and penetrating grooviness. From the blue-grass tinged 'Honey From The Honeybee' to the raucous French folk of 'Le Diable Est Dans La Chanson', from the New Orleans style horns of 'St. Anthony's Feast' to the Irish sing-a-long 'Goodness Blues', 'Present Times' is as unique and as everyday as the rising of the sun and as beautiful and truthful as the moon in a clear night sky. So come listen to the lush sounds of the 'Present Times', where blackbirds fly out of mouths, where the bison run wild and free across the prairies, where lost lovers are once again found and where nothing is more compelling or more beautiful than the present moment. "Where everything is falling apart And everything is falling into place."
