Born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1941, Desmond Dekker became one of the most important and prolific artists from the Island to influence Western culture. In May of 2006, Dekker passed away and left his legacy for a new generation to discover and learn from.

Bacteria Buffet Records is pleased to present this compilation as a tribute to the late and great ambassador of Jamaican music. Thirteen artists from across North America have come together to provide their own interpretations of these greats songs. From dub, punk, hip-hop, rocksteady and ska versions of these great tracks, Unity: A Tribute to Desmond Dekker sheds light on the impact of this man and his songs on so many different musical genres.
