In his debut single This House, Manitoba-based artist Brenton David blends the sound of traditional Métis fiddle and contemporary Americana. Produced by Juno award-winning musician Murray Pulver (Bros Landreth, Ariel Posen), the work is the first glimpse into a unique process that marries the timbre of Indigenous music with the timeless storytelling of folk and country. Filled with imagery from across the prairies, This House feels like work that is sincerely Canadian.
Released in tandem, is an introductory course to Métis fiddle for aspiring musicians. The two-time MCMA award-winners free course, represents over ten years of experience teaching live workshops. Brenton was inspired to create the course after witnessing the lack of arts education in remote communities. David trusts his latest work will aid in the preservation of traditional music and excite the next generation of young musicians.
